Day 1: Bagdogra / NJP → Phuentsholing
(Drive: approx. 150–160 km | 4–5 hours)
● Morning: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB). Meet your driver and start the road journey toward theIndo-Bhutan border town of Jaigaon.
● En route: Drive through the Dooars region — tea gardens, forests, and small Bengal/Ass towns.Stop for lunch on the way.
● Border crossing: Reach Jaigaon (India) by evening and walk across into Phuentsholing (Bhutan)through the Pedestrian Terminal.
● Evening: Check into your hotel in Phuentsholing.
● Overnight: Phuentsholing.
Meals: Dinner at Hotel.
Tip: Keep your Passport/ Voter ID handy for Entry. This border town buzzes with cross-border trade — it'syour gentle introduction from Indian chaos to Bhutanese calm.
Day 2: Phuentsholing → Thimphu
(Drive: approx. 170–175 km | 5–6 hours)
● Morning: After breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Here you will be received by your tour guideand driver at the hotel, then you will proceed to Immigration office.
● Permit: Complete Permit formalities at the Department of Immigration office (carry the requireddocuments your agent has mentioned).
● Depart for Thimphu after permit. The drive winds through the foothills along the Toorsa River,passing through Gedu, Chukha, and Chuzom (the confluence point of the Thimphu and Paro rivers).
● En route stop: Eight Dharma Kaya Stupas – Take a short stop at this religious site located in Gedu.
● Lunch at Gedu/ Wangkha.
● Optional stop: Kharbandi Monastery (near Phuentsholing) if not covered earlier, or a coffee breakat Gedu.
● Arrival in Thimphu by afternoon. Check into your hotel.
● Evening: leisure time at Hotel.
● Overnight: Thimphu.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner at Hotel.
Day 3: Thimphu → Punakha Excursion
Drive: approx. 75 km | 2.5–3 hrs each way)
● Morning: Drive to Punakha, Bhutan's former capital.
● Dochula Pass (3,100 m): Stop at this iconic pass with its 108 memorial chortens (Druk WangyalChortens). On a clear day, you'll see the Eastern Himalayan range including Gangkhar Puensum.Enjoy a hot cup of tea/coffee at the café here.
● Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple): A short walk through paddy fields to this temple dedicated tothe "Divine Madman," Lama Drukpa Kunley — famous for its unconventional phallic symbolism andblessings for fertility.
● Punakha Dzong: Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong (Pungthang Dechen Photrang), sitting at theconfluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers — widely regarded as the most beautiful dzong inBhutan. This was also the site of the royal wedding in 2011.
● Suspension Bridge: Walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan,strung with prayer flags over the Po Chhu River.
● Lunch: Local Bhutanese lunch in Punakha (try ema datshi, red rice, and pork with radish).
● Evening: Drive back to Thimphu.
● Overnight: Thimphu.

Day 4: Thimphu Sightseeing → Paro
(Drive: approx. 55 km | 1.5 hrs)
Thimphu Sightseeing (half day):
● Buddha Dordenma Statue: giant Buddha statue overlooking the Thimphu valley, offeringpanoramic views.
● National Memorial Chorten: a stupa built in memory of the Third King, a hub of dailyprayer and devotion for locals.
● Takin Preserve (Motithang Mini Zoo): Bhutan's national animal
● Simply Bhutan – living museum of Bhutan.
● Handicraft Bazaar – handicrafts, weaving, cultural displays.
● Lunch: at Thimphu (own account).
● Afternoon: Drive to Paro via Chuzom confluence.
● Visit Paro Rinpung Dzong ("fortress on a heap of jewels") and Nya Meh Zam Bridge (the adjoiningtraditional cantilever bridge.
● Evening: Explore Paro town, local shops/cafes.
● Overnight: Paro.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner at Hotel.
Day 5: Paro → Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Hike
Full day | Moderate hike, 4–5 hrs round trip
● Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest): Early breakfast, then drive to the base point for the hike to—Bhutan's most iconic monastery, perched on a cliff at approx. 3,120m. Round trip hike: approx. 5–6hours (can be done on foot or partly on horseback/mule up to the cafeteria point).
● Lunch: At the cafeteria viewpoint (on the way down) or back in Paro town, depending on timing(own account).
● Afternoon (if time permits/ if energy allows): Visit other Paro attractions —
● Ta Dzong (National Museum) – housed in a former watchtower, showcasing Bhutanese art,history, and culture.
● Or simply relax — a hot stone bath in Paro is a wonderful way to soothe hiking muscles(can be arranged at farmhouses).
● Evening: At leisure in Paro town.
● Overnight: Paro.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner at Hotel.
Tips for the hike: Wear sturdy shoes, carry water and light snacks, dress in layers, and carry cashfor the cafeteria/tea stops. Start early — mornings tend to be clearer for photos.
Day 6:Paro → Phuentsholing
(Drive: approx. 297 km | 7–8 hours)
● Morning: After breakfast and check-out from the hotel and depart for Phuentsholing, retracing thescenic route via Chuzom, Chukha, and Gedu.
● Enroute visit: Pho chhu River nestled around Paro river and Chukkha Watefall A tiny yet refreshingwaterfall.
● Stop for lunch en route (Wangkha or Jaigaon).
● Arrive Phuentsholing by Evening; complete the exit formalities and check-in to your hotel atPhuentsholing.
● Overnight: Phuentsholing.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner at Hotel.
Day 7: Phuentsholing → Bagdogra Airport (Departure)
(Drive: approx. 170–175 km | 5–6 hours)
● Morning: After breakfast check-out from the hotel.
● Exit: Normal exit at the Phuentsholing Pedestrian Terminal through walk.
● Depart for Bagdogra/NJP for your onward journey.
● Tour concludes.
